($65) Good bright ruby-red. Red fruit, mint, licorice and exotic spices on the nose, with a lightly stewy quality. Rather soft on the palate, with currant, tobacco and sweet oak flavors of moderate complexity. A bit lacking in oomph and clarity, and slightly edgy on the back end.

On the decline, drink it if you got it! Distinctly blackcurrants in the nose, some meaty aromas too. Taught and sour red fruits give way to some pepper and meaty aromas and flavors. Acidity is intact but too much leaving it out of balance with the fruit.

A darkly colored smooth and plush wine. Aromas of sweet plum and wood with an overlay of slight stemmy-ness (reminds me of a detuned Australian shiraz). Texturally the wine is very wine. Unfortunately, flavors are shallow and rather hollow. Simply put, the wine lacks sufficient fruit concentration. Still, what fruit there is is delivered cradled in lush velvet.
