Still one of the top wines of the region. Bold and exotic, with a muscular style. Full-bodied, with fantastic, velvety tannins and a long, opulent finish. Got to love this wild wine.

Opened 2 hours prior to drinking; not decanted. Dark red-black color, starting to show a bit of orange/brown at the rim. Aromas of dark fruits with a good dose of oak. On the palate, flavors of dark fruits delivered in a medium-weight wine. Moderate finish. Don't think that this wine will improve, and probably should be drunk over next few years.

Bright plum red, clear rim. Immediate earthy nose with slight camphor and subtle, dark, almost stewed fruit. Satisfying, smooth mouth feel, tart cherry. Wow, very smooth, sweet just slightly dry finish. Absolutely wrong with sliced apple and smoked Gruyere. Perfect for washing down sharp cheddar and beef summer sausage.
