The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard (785 cases) is an elegant, European-styled wine. It possesses copious quantities of black currants, cedar wood, spice box, and vanilla, medium body, good underlying acidity, excellent purity, and austere tannin in the finish.

MUST decant! 2 hours minimum! This is a killer 2000, which many of us know to be a bad vintage thanks to the critics. Bad California vintage = GOOD Bordeaux style vintage from Napa. Blind I would guess Bordeaux, and even go so far as to say Mouton or Pontet-Canet from Paulliac in Bordeaux. Color: Red with notes of purple, medium-dark core Nose: Whiffs of currants, black cherry, pencil shavings, kirsch and cassis. Earth and loam underly the fruit and subtle oak in the nose, well integrated oak. Palate: Medium to full bodied, silky smooth with a long 45+ second finish with good balance of fruit, oak, alcohol, acidity and tannin. The palate is caressed by the fruits that range from red to black cherry and currants with a loamy/earthy core bringing the lush fruit into balance and in touch with its roots.
