($44) Good ruby-red. Smoky raspberry, ripe plum, coffee and a hint of menthol on the nose. Very sweet, fruit-driven wine, with thoroughly ripe flavors of raspberry and chocolate supported by solid backbone. Finishes with big, dusty tannins and excellent length.

The dark ruby/purple-colored, deep, rich, medium-bodied 2000 Bahans Haut-Brion exhibits scents of graphite, black cherry liqueur, cassis, and minerals. This second wine has a lot in common with its bigger sibling, displaying impressive volume, depth, and complexity.

Berry, tobacco and coffee aromas. Medium- to full-bodied, with lots of flavor and a silky and luscious finish. A tasty second wine. Best after 2007.
