($63) Saturated medium ruby. Sexy, superripe aromas of black cherry, iron, tobacco, earth and smoky oak. Sweet and leathery on entry, then dry and powerful in the middle, with wild, somewhat high-toned flavors of iron and tobacco. Finishes with big, youthfully tough tannins and excellent length. This really needs two or three years of additional aging.

Feudi's 2000 Serpico is quite expressive. Wild dark cherries, dried flowers, herbs, game, ash and bacon fat are some of the notes that flow from this rich, powerful Serpico. The French oak adds a measure of volume I am not sure the wine needs, but this is nevertheless a beautiful, almost fully mature Serpico that is a great choice for drinking today and over the next seven to eight years, give or take.
