($80; 55% petit verdot, with 38% cabernet sauvignon and 7% cabernet franc) Bright ruby-red, a bit less saturated than the flagship offering. Aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, licorice and menthol (Delia Viader describes the nose as flashier). Silky on entry, then tightly wound in the middle, with firm underlying structure. Conveys an impression of strong acidity and thus comes across as less pliant today. But juicy and sweet. Finishes with dusty, fine tannins and a note of dark chocolate.

About This Producer

VIADER is a leading Napa Valley winery estate established in 1986 by Delia Viader, and recognized for consistently producing high quality red wines. The estate is located 1200 feet above the Napa Valley floor just north-east of St. Helena on the steep, rocky slopes of Howell Mountain.

Since its inaugural vintage in 1989, the VIADER Proprietary blend has featured Cabernet Sauvignon with a significant component of Cabernet Franc. The second lable "V" is exclusively Petit Verdot. The estate VIADER Syrah is a blend of Barossa and Hermitage clones. DARE by Viader focuses on single varieties from select vineyards in the Napa Valley blended with their estate fruit. DARE Cabernet Sauvignon features fruit sourced from Lewelling Vineyards in St. Helena. DARE Cabernet Franc uses fruit from Stagecoach Vineyards in Oakville. DARE Tempranillo is made from a Ribera del Duero clonal selection sourced from the northeast side of the Napa Valley. VIADER also produces a very limited amount of Cabernet-based dry DARE Rose.
