The 2000 Barolo Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata is another exceptional Barolo. Impossibly fine, silky tannins support sweet red cherries, raspberries, rose petals and spices, all of which come together in the open-knit style that is typical of this great site. This, too, is another fabulous Barolo from Scavino. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030.

The nose is pure, freshly crushed berries and cherries with lilacs. Full-bodied and very, very concentrated, with big, ripe, powerful tannins, but it's all in harmony and length. Layers of fabulous fruit. It's just a baby. Wait and watch it grow up into something amazing. 250 cases made.

About This Producer

Established in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto, one of the historic Langhe townships, this estate is now entering its third generation of Barolo production. With a historic connection to the land at the forefront of the winemaking philosophy, this estate creates exceptional Barolos, Barberas, and Dolcettos. The Bric del Fiasc Barolo is the hallmark of the family's production, from a vineyard that always produced the best Nebbiolo fruit. In 1978, this fruit was vinified on its own for the first time and it has remained a special bottling ever since.
