($75; a blend of 61% cabernet sauvignon and 39% cabernet franc) Bright ruby. Vibrant, multifaceted nose combines black raspberry, plum, bitter chocolate, leather, tar and smoke, plus a floral nuance. Bright, focused and very intensely flavored, with lovely sweetness and noteworthy detail. Bitter chocolate and dark berry notes, with a sweet overlay of oak. A structured, delineated wine with compelling density and sappy verve. The very long finish features fine, complex tannins. A superb example that really captures the potential of this cool, European-styled vintage.

Very deep crimson right out to the rim. Sweet chocolate cherry notes on the nose overlays that stoniness in this case. A slightly singed quality. Lovely sweetness at first and then a very dry finish. Quite long. The most typically California wine of the lot. A hint of beef extract.

This blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon and 39% Cabernet Franc reveals attractive cassis and blueberry notes, subtle oak, and spice. This wine is graceful, elegant, and medium-bodied, with sweet ripe tannin, and a moderate finish. It will drink well for 10-12 years.

Very rich and distinctive, with spicy currant, leather, tobacco, cedar and mocha aromas and complex, concentrated, earth, currant, spice and cedar flavors. Gains depth and nuance on the finish, where the flavors run deep and long. Tannins are firm and well-integrated. 3,500 cases made.
