(from vines just yards across the county line) Good medium ruby-red. Sappy aromas of black- and redcurrant, licorice, brown spices and shoe polish. Denser than the cabernet franc bottling, with a higher pitch despite its creamy-sweet berry flavors. Exotic oak adds another layer of flavor to this already enticing but still young cabernet. Foley loves the traditional Radoux barrels, mostly from center-of-France oak and about 20% from Vosges wood.

The dense purple-colored, angular-styled 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits aromas and flavors of licorice, toasty oak, and black currants. It possesses an austere, firm, sinewy personality as well as a tannic finish. Aging will bring out more flesh, so patience will be required in this excellent Cabernet.

Well-oaked, with creamy, mocha-scented flavors leading to a ripe, supple, complex core of currant, black cherry, anise, spice and mineral. Turns sleek and elegant on the finish, with a long, lively aftertaste.
