Domaine Dugat-Py is a small family-operated winery located in Gevrey-Chambertin producing a dozen selections ranging from regional to grand cru status. Previously the estate was run by Pierre Dugat, whose labels can still be found. ($85) Bright, full ruby. Captivating aromas of cassis, game, mocha and brown spices. Sweet, concentrated and chewy, with powerful cassis and kirsch fruit flavors. Already displays wonderful inner-mouth aromatic character. Finishes with rather strong, slightly tough tannins that will require patience. This is quite impressive, but the 2000 version appears to have sweeter tannins.
