Burghound Issue: Issue 3

(from 40 year old vines) Quite marked by the wood today yet with superbly elegant fruit offering intense minerality, honeysuckle and pain grillé aromas followed by flavors of outstanding intensity simply with hints of wet rocks and limestone, which continue on into a very intense and persistent finish. The fruit/acid balance here is both subtle and fine and there is an elegant sense of harmony that is most seductive. Text book Genevrières and highly recommended.

Subtle aromas of lime, orange and vanilla. Bright, cool and extremely unevolved, with penetrating, impressively intense citrus and mineral flavors. Finishes with superb palate-staining persistence. This is actually lower in acidity than the Clos de la Barre, Charmes and Montrachet, but shows terrific clarity and grip.

Wine Advocate Author: Pierre Rovani Issue: 133

Dominique Lafon declassified the young vine production from the 1999 Meursault Genevrieres, blending it with his regular Meursault Villages cuvee (a full 25% of the Genevrieres). The result is a Genevrieres that possesses deep aromas of star anise-laden white fruits. Medium-bodied and satin-textured, it is a more elegant wine than usual. Delicate, lace-like, toasted hazelnuts and pears can be discerned in its well-defined personality. The finish is long and crystalline.

Lovely lemon, creamy, spice and smoke character, with some fine tropical and toasted notes. Has a slight dry extract on the slightly chewy finish, offering vanilla.

Youthful light yellow color; lovely nose; rich, even fat, but crisp, balanced; quite opulent; very good grip & intensity; very long. Lovely. Ready but will hold and perhaps evolve over the next few years.

Yellow in color. Slow legs. Grapefruit, Orange, Lime, Peach, Pineapple, Mineral, Iris, Orange Blossom, Honey, Smokey. Medium/Full bodied. Silky texture. Long finish. This has all that Meursault has. The perfect Genevrieres.
