Good medium red color. Strawberry and raspberry aromas complicated by notes of woodsmoke, smoked meat and mint. Smooth and concentrated, with chewy cherry and spice flavors and excellent volume. Youthful, sappy and substantial wine, with excellent fruit and solid underlying structure. Finishes with dusty, even tannins and excellent persistence. A very impressive Beaune wine.

The medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Beaune Greves Vignes de L'Enfant Jesus (Domaine Bottling) has herbal, black fruit aromas. This is a medium-bodied, tarry, blackberry, and cassis-laden wine with loads of tannin in its masculine, rugged personality. It will require 3-4 years of cellaring for its fruit to expand and gain the upper hand.

An ager. Quite distinctive, with mineral, crisp cherry and tannic character. Difficult to warm up to, at least now, but it might soften with age as it delivers clean intensity of distinctive mineral and ripe fruit on the impressive finish.
