Strong cork funk obviously spoils the wine but underneath the TCA there appears to be very ripe aromas and flavors. Not rated.

The 1999 Pinot Noir Cuvee Catherine, a selection of the best barrels from the Kistler Vineyard, displays a bouquet of roasted meats, earth, truffle, blackberry, raspberry, and smoky cherry fruit. Full body, an unctuous texture, and terrific acidity define this large-scaled effort. A monumental Pinot Noir that has to be tasted to be believed, it should hit its prime in about three or four years and last for 12-15, if not longer.

Popped and poured. Color vibrant and deep with virtually no fading at the edge. Still quite rich with plenty of fruit. Moderate acidity. Improved with air over the course of about two hours. Very nice wine.

Smooth, medium-bodied, very well balanced. Drink now, though a couple of years left.
