The 1999 Isosceles (an unfiltered blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 17% Merlot) reveals copious quantities of earthy black currant, fig, and charcoal-infused fruit with a touch of new oak in the background. Full-bodied, with plenty of muscle as well as depth, it has a similar weight, but less complexity than the Reserve bottling. This promising 1999 can be drunk now as well as over the next 10-15 years.

A wonderfully rich and complex Cabernet blend, smooth and seamless, its layers of ripe currant, black cherry and blackberry shaded with anise, herb and earth. Finishes with just the right amount of acidity and tannin to sustain its long, lingering finish. 7,500 cases made.

Dark opaque red color with some lightening at the edge. Lots of thick legs display slight coloration. A rustic nose of dark plum, varnish, moderate toast, slight vanilla, leather, and tomato. Thick tannins, alcohol, and acidity on the palate leads to a short finish. Plum and oak flavors predominate (along with alcohol). This wine does not show as well as it has in past vintages due to the vintage character of 1999 in Paso Robles. A chunky foursquare wine that lacks the breeding of top shelf CS. Plenty of flavor however.
