($55) Bright ruby-red. Wild aromas of blackberry, black cherry, espresso, leather, raw meat, tobacco and mint. Juicy, sweet and plump, with intense but rather rustic flavors. Finishes with lingering sweet fruit and surprisingly ripe tannins. Not squeaky-clean but long on personality.

A dense, chewy, muscular wine marked by pencil lead, currant, cedar, mineral, iodine and dill flavors. Tightly wound and immense, and sufficiently tannic to cellar for up to a decade.

Dark black cherry colored wine with lots of moderately pigmented legs. Surprisingly accessible aromas of leafy cherry, sage, mint, dark chocolate, blackberry, and light oak shadings. Substantial fruit manages to peak out from a heavy overlay of tannin in the mouth. Heavy tannins with lots of acidity, (perhaps too much), frame the finish. Tannins are persistent but not harsh. This wine has the structure to repay extended aging and enough fruit to survive a long sleep. This wine is all about potential at present.

About This Producer

Dunn Vineyards is located east of St. Helena in the town of Angwin on Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. In 1972 Randy and Lori purchased the original vineyard property. The winery was established in 1979, with the first harvest of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. In 1981, the first release offered consumers 660 cases of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Howell Mountain vineyards. In 1982, Dunn also released their first Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Currently Dunn Vineyards produces around 5000 cases of extremely age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon.
