Pale gold. Deep, smoky/floral aromas of peach liqueur, honey and licorice. Rich and ripe in the mouth, with fairly opulent texture. Still, this is quite youthfully unevolved and unforthcoming today. Finishes pure and persistent.

About This Producer

Chateau Doisy-Daene, a Second Cru Classe in 1855, is located in Barsac in the Sauternes appellation. Doisy-Daene has been in the Dubourdieu family since 1924, and for more than eighty years, three generations of family vine growers have exercised their talents to produce the estate's great sweet white wines.

The composition of the soil where Doisy-Daene is grown is a thin layer of clayey sand, known as "Barsac red sand," which sits on top of a chalky subsoil. This soil type is particularly well-suited to the making of elegant and distinguished white wines.

The wine produced is defined by the essence of "noble rot": strength, balance, and subtlety. Doisy-Daene's goal is to produce a style of wine which is a great expression of the calcareous soil on which it is grown and a truly aesthetic family tradition.
