Bright, youthful red-ruby. Very ripe, complex aromas of black fruits, violet, exotic spices, licorice and humus. Then hugely full and sweet in the mouth, but with a faint greenness. Finishes with big, slightly rustic tannins-less fine-grained than usual for this estate. A classic wine from a hot year in which the ripening came in a rush.

Exceptionally dark crimson with black tones. Very warm and very Napa Valley ? very ripe. Sweet - advertises hang time. Very easy to drink without food though there are some quite marked tannins on the finish. Very lush but not very terroir driven. A bit jagged and Unknit. 14% CS:M:CF 65:30:5 138,000 bottles (and the second wine Le Serre Nuove was born)

Probably the finest (and most sumptuous) Ornellaia yet produced, the 1997 has it all. A dense purple color offers up smoky espresso and jammy black cherry aromas wrapped in new oak. Full-bodied, opulent, thick, and juicy, this low acid, seamless classic can be drunk now and over the next 15+ years.

This Tuscan gem is black in color, with complex aromas of black currants, minerals and wet earth. Full- bodied, with lots of tannins, but very polished. Long, long finish. Super well-made: a great Ornellaia. 11,415 cases made.
