Full ruby. Profound yet rather reticent nose hints at blackberry and violet; less roasted than the Costa Russi and more precise. Lush, thick and large-scaled, with great penetrating sweetness. Voluptuous and mouthfilling yet sharply delineated at the same time. Amazingly thick, seamless Barbaresco, finishing with lush tannins and uncanny persistence. This too has filled out and harmonized since the first time I tasted it.

Some members of my tasting group thought this the most difficult of the wines, but to me it was the most elegant and nuanced. The color here is just a bit less intense than in Costa Russi. Sori Tildin is a totally different wine, it is more delicate, almost Burgundian, with a very aromatic nose of flowers, spices, and mint followed by intense flavors of cherries in liqueur and a superb, caressing finish that seems to never end. With air, the wine shows the unmistakable aroma of truffles. My favorite of the three wines, I found the 97 Sori Tildin to be truly profound. I also noted that it was the most "Piedmontese" of the wines.

There's harmony and grandeur to this red, with loads of fresh raspberry, plus violet, lilac and mint. Full-bodied, with velvety, rich tannins and a long finish. Refined and very well-done. 800 cases made.

Drinking a bit rustic with raspberry flavors after 3 hours of air. Lovely wine, but still a baby. We will have to wait and see what evolves in five years or so.
