Bright ruby. Cassis, violet and lightly tarry, spicy oak. Ripe, dense and very concentrated; thick and deep. Not at all overly sweet or dominated by the wood. Has superb material and verve. Finishes very long, with thoroughly ripe tannins. The finest vintage for this wine in a long time, and one that avoids the excesses of (American) oak that have plagued so many recent vintages.

This banner year's Special Selection is smooth, rich and concentrated, with layers of currant, mocha, black cherry and wild berry, fairly gushing at midpalate. The finish is long, rich, and intricate. 2,000 cases made.

Medium to full body. Would still be alive for 5 more years. Great Californian Cabernet with elegance.

I don't remember the nuances of the actual bottle as I was forced to crack this open at our company Xmas party after losing a bet with the owner. It was definitely the best wine I tasted all year.
