Medium-deep red. Superripe, aromatic nose of plum, cherry and loam; not at all over the top. Sweet, pliant and full, with surprising vinosity for the vintage. Not as dense as the '96 but very attractive. Finishes with sweet, fine tannins.

The dense ruby/garnet-colored, tightly-knit 1997 Barolo Bussia Soprana offers notions of earth, cherries, and balsam wood. Full-bodied, with good acidity (particularly for the vintage), moderately high tannin, and a firm finish, it possesses plenty of power.
