More Vintages and Sizes of D'Arenberg - Riesling Noble (Traminer):
International Wine Cellar
Author: Stephen Tanzer
Issue: Issue 85
Light gold color. Big, nuanced, floral nose of marmalade, citrus zest, apricot and caraway seed. Thick and quite sweet in the mouth, with strong acidity and refreshing notes of caraway seed and licorice. Moderately viscous and impressively concentrated. Finishes with a roasted note of maple syrup. Still a bit disjointed today: I'd hold this for a year or two before pulling the cork.

The medium amber-colored 1997 Riesling The Noble (a botrytised beerenauslese-styled dessert wine) reveals aromas of peach jam, honeysuckle, and strawberries. Rich and decadent, with enough acidity to provide freshness, this wine should be drunk during its vigorous youthfulness - over the next 5-7 years.

Sweet, silky and flavorful, balancing its ripe pineapple and cream flavors against the honey and apricot notes swirling in. A delicious wine that unfolds beautifully on the long finish.
