Like the Montrachet, this bottle also displayed very subtle notes of premature oxidation though again, when you get a good bottle, this is a very special if not truly spectacular Bâtard. Please see the database for a representative note. Not rated.

Issue: Issue 80
Brooding yet surprisingly delicate aroma of apple, pear and smoky, spicy oak. Then voluminous and powerful on the palate, with superb oily depths and authoritative structure. Almost painfully backward on the decisively dry, very strong aftertaste, which features a late burst of pineapple.

Crafted from 29 year old vines, Sauzet's spectacular Batard-Montrachet offers intense mineral aromatics and a powerful, expansive, full-bodied, and profound personality. Layers of poached pears, stones, gravel, juniper berries, and spicy oak are found in this magnificently structured and focused, yet fat and oily masculine wine.
