Rhone Book(1997) Author: Robert Parker

The 1995 Cuvee Reservee exhibits an opaque black/purple color, and extraordinary rich, intense aromas of smoke, black raspberries, kirsch, and spice. Exceptionally full-bodied, with an unctuous texture, and a thick, rich, expansive mid-palate, this superbly concentrated wine appears to be a worthy rival to this estate's phenomenal 1989 and 1990. Interestingly, the average alcohol level achieved by Domaine du Pegau in 1995 was 14.5-15.5%. This is a blockbuster Chateauneuf du Pape.

This round, generous red shows an international style, with plump, ripe flavors of plum and black cherry and firm tannins that support the fruit. Clean and balanced, with good definition.

Slow-O'd 3 hours then decanted for sediment. A bit past prime but still drinking great. Love me some Pegau!

Deep ruby with garnet overtones throughout. Developed aromas and flavors of black fruit, herb, and leaather. Tannins soft and almost completely integrated, low acidity. Fully mature, drinking beautifully but perhaps not much time left.

Very dark purple color. Rich, intense nose of black fruits with a hint of smoke. Exceptionally well balanced, with a rich texture and it is very concentrated wine, integrated and smooth with a slightly plummy aftertaste. Tannins are still present, so i think there is life to go. Very nice. Decanted for one hour. Only got better with more time.
