Bright, saturated red-ruby color. Jammy but reticent aromas of black cherry, woodsmoke and leather. Silky in the mouth, with black fruit flavors complicated by nuances of woodsmoke and roasted coffee. A shapely wine that still a bit closed following the bottling. But already displays sneaky length, and the tannins are quite fine. May yet merit a 90-point rating. This is around 13% alcohol, with no chaptalization.

The debut vintage for La Gomerie, the 1995 Le Pin-look-alike is showing fabulously well after bottling. The color is dense ruby/purple, and the nose offers up exotic aromas of Asian spices, soy, coffee, and ripe berry/cherry fruit. This full-bodied, thick, unctuously-textured wine is marvelously concentrated, with plenty of sweet, well-integrated tannin. The acidity is low, which only adds to the voluptuous personality of this strikingly rich, head-turning effort.

Masses of everything in this one. A big, Right Bank red with loads of cherry, chocolate and blackberry aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, very ripe, with velvety tannins and a long finish. Needs time to open.
