More Vintages and Sizes of Bouchard Pere & Fils - Montrachet:
Author: Allen Meadows
Deep yellow color; much more deeply colored than the '96. Dense, rich, nicely complex and still entirely primary fruit aromatics are followed by long, intense, pure, sappy flavors and a remarkably long finish. This is really quite a dramatic wine of real size, power and a certain robustness about it. Impressive and while not exactly light on its feet, it should age for another decade without difficulty.

Potentially better than the Chevalier Montrachet, the unbottled Montrachet has an extremely expressive, layered nose of attractive fruit. Judicious use of oak has been employed to produce a delicately toasty, nutty and tropical fruit-laden wine that is full-bodied, copmlex and very long.

Beautiful harmony and balance in this wine, with flavors of spice, toasted oak, ripe fruit and citrus. Full-bodied, with a milky vanilla-bean and mineral note that persists on the lingering finish.
