For readers with 10-15 years of patience, this exceptionally concentrated, massive, tannic, backward, opaque purple-colored Lafleur offers considerable promise. The provocative nose of licorice, violets, black-raspberry, and truffle-like fruit is followed by a huge, tannic, forbiddingly backward, super-concentrated wine that should be purchased only by those willing to wait until the end of the first decade of the next century.

Refined and elegant wine, more Medoc-like personality and structure than Pomerol. Nose of black currants, black berries, cheries after 2 hours of decanting more intense flavours. Plenty of tannins and good acidity, medium bodied. Not ready yet, wait al least 3-5 years

This was a toughie, as you could tell there was some substantial midpalate flesh and some beautiful complexity that was plagued by a subdued aromatic disposition, suggesting a bit of taint (I'm in the camp that would be fairly surprised to witness a 'closed? ?94 Lafleur). While not overtly corky, the 'off? sensation weaved in and out, and really seemed to clip the finish as the wine flattened out. We didn'tbelieve this was a representative bottle
