The impressively rich, dense purple-colored 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Madrona Vineyard exhibits a blueberry/blackberry/cassis-scented nose, with a touch of violets and subtle new oak. In the mouth, the wine has disguised its tannic clout with extraordinary extraction of fruit, medium to full body, and a silky yet powerful personality. It is a 20-25 year wine that can be drunk now or cellared.
The 1994, 1995 and 1996 possess fabulous purity and an undeniable sweet, rich, creme de cassis-like fruit character. David Abreu's mailing list should be a high priority for readers who love California Cabernet.
