More Vintages and Sizes of Hubert Lignier - Clos de la Roche:
Author: Allen Meadows
This has tightened up considerably over the last few years but it remains stylish, classy and pure. A truly superb wine with everything it needs to age for decades and still has plenty of sap, tannin and power. Complete in every respect and one of the great wines of the vintage. Multiple and consistent notes.

The 1993 Clos de la Roche is medium-to-dark ruby-colored with hints of amber on the edge of the glass. Its initially kinky, slightly barnyard-like aromas blew off quickly to display loads of spicy cedar scents. Medium-to-full-bodied, this earth, stone, black fruit-laden wine is well-concentrated and dense. It possesses its vintage's firm, dry, tannic backbone but has the potential to have the depth of fruit to overcome this trait with age.
