This is substantially better, fresher and racier than the same wine from 750 ml with simply brilliant complexity on the still youthfull fresh nose and racy, pure, intense and punchy medium full flavors that are mineral-driven and wonderfully long and deep. In short, this is a stunner of a wine that is, remarkably for a '92 even in magnum, still on its way up.

Cool vintage. 11 ha domaine, 9.5 in Corton-Charlemagne. Organic and on way to BD. 15 parcels of Chardonnay all vinified separately these days.Paler than the Chandon de Briailles 2002 and less honeyed. Light spicy oak still there but more obviously mineral and a touch smoky, slightly cedary too. Even a hint of something exotic like jasmine or other white blossom. Amazingly complex as it opens up, very slight note of savoury linseed. Much tighter and fresher though there’s a buttery sweetness on the finish. Very long and open but so fresh. Incredibly moreish and mouthfilling but not fat like the Chandon de Briailles 2002. Such a deliciously youthful specimen. (JH)

Consistent notes over past 2 years: now fully mature but still vigorous; light golden color; good fruit and minerality; complex & classy in a subtle elegant style.
