As good as this wine is from 750 ml, it's even better from magnum as it's fresher and still notably young. As with the 750 ml, the nose is beautifully expressive with game, underbrush and earth aromas framing big, rich, round and relatively elegant flavors in the context of the vintage that display notes of leather, spice and remarkable complexity all wrapped in a textured and gorgeous velvety and still tight finish. A very impressive wine that is clearly still on the way up. Multiple and consistent notes from 750 ml but only this one experience from magnum.

This is a prodigious effort. Given recent perplexing offerings from this producer, it is amazing how phenomenal Ponsot's wines can be. The 1990 exhibits a deep, dense, murky, ruby color as well as an explosive nose of gravel, spring flowers, and black and red fruits. Extremely rich and full-bodied, with spectacular concentration, an unctuous texture, and an extraordinarily long finish, this wine remains youthful, but its fat and succulent texture are hard to resist. It should age effortlessly for another 10-15+ years. This is an amazing effort, even in such a great vintage!

Bold, rich, complex and concentrated; a tight, yet polished, highly extracted style. Packs in lots of currant, black cherry, toast and chocolate flavors that gently unfold on the long, full finish. Has rich tannins, but they're smooth and polished. Drink now. 500 cases made.
