Rich, multidimensional, highly aromatic nose of pear, red berries, apple, honey, toast and spice. Extremely rich and concentrated, with its medium to full body leavened by bright citrus notes and compelling minerality. Great inner-mouth aromas. Conveys an impression of powerful yet remarkably fine raw materials. The spicy finish offers exceptional persistence and richness.

Magnum. Full, dense and relatively rich. So substantial it is more of a food wine than an aperitif.

I highly recommend the Veuve Clicquot 1990 La Grande Dame. It is exquisitely rich and accessible, yet bursting with potential.

The '90s give a very soft and sweet impression. Experience shows that these wines, despite their immediate charm, have good potential. The strong scent of newly baked saffron bread is almost like a parody. There is also a fantastic attack and a rich, accelerating taste of exotic fruits, vanilla, and lemon chiffon pie. Honestly, I have missed the chocolate-flavored Champagne that went into the curvy bottle that was available until 1985. Peters and his eight-man-strong team have really put the pieces together. It's a wonderful wine!

Assertive and buttery style, dry and bold in flavor, but with the lively effervescence and toasty finish for balance.

Wonderful!! Vibrant, fresh, yeasty bread notes, with lightly toasted almond mid-palate. Retained all its freshness despite the age.

About This Producer

Upon the early death of her husband, the widow Clicquot took the reins of the family Champagne business, transforming it into one of the world's most recognized brands. Among her many successes, she is attributed with the invention of the riddling table, enabling the mass production of Champagne. Today there are 382 hectares of vineyards farmed by Clicquot, which although widely distributed are predominantly in the Grande Montagne de Reims and the Cote des Blancs, including plots in twelve grand cru sites. This is a considerable estate, but such is the Champagne business that it provides only a quarter of Clicquot's needs, the rest being purchased from growers who are under long-term contract. Much of the fruit harvested is destined for the "Yellow Label" Brut Non-Vintage, the most recognizable wine in the portfolio with its distinctive bright label.
