Vibrant aromas of fruit salad and honey. Moderately viscous and bright in the mouth; not nearly as powerful as the '90. Nicely balanced, even if there still a bit of acidity to be absorbed. Intensely flavored and youthful.

Luminous copper. Full and round and very opulent. Round and full and clean and open on the nose. Though not desperately subtle. More almonds on the nose. Very round, not especially complex but clean and bumptious and again with a slightly burnt undertow. Full finish, rather opulent and exciting. Already quite evolved.

The 1989 is the most well-balanced wine of this trio, but its fruit does not appear to be sufficient to stand up to the wine's high alcohol and aggressive style. None of these wines offers much delineation, so cellaring should prove beneficial as they do have admirable levels of extract. Last tasted 11/94.
Exotically perfumed violet and rose petals burst on your palate, accompanied by dried apricot, lemon and honey flavors. Gorgeous and subtle, glowing on the finish.
