In most tastings of the 1989 and 1990 vintages I have had a strong preference for the 1990, but in this tasting the 1989 provided the most charming drinking with its soft, voluptuous texture, big, spicy, cedary nose, sweet, expansive fruit, medium body, and excellent richness and purity. The wine reveals no amber at the edge, but it tastes surprisingly evolved and already delicious. I would not hesitate to drink it over the next 12-15+ years.

A delicious, well-structured Bordeaux, with plenty of ripe fruit, beautiful berry, green tobacco and cherry character. Full-bodied, adding velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish.--1989 Bordeaux horizontal.

No specific notes this time but overall this bottle was better than my last.

Mineral, dark berry fruits, tobacco, cassis, slight barnyard. Rather light and delicate, but with plenty of character. After about 40 minutes in the decanter it was firing on all four cylinders - fuller mid-palate, more mineral qualities, rounder and more voluptuous fruit. Very elegant.

Well, you?ve already read that Levenberg hates this wine because he found it to be too much like Chateauneuf. Personally, I didn'tget that comparison, but you all know that I drool and sweat Chateauneuf on a daily basis, so this was right in my kitchen! An extremely fungal, exotic nose that tugged at my heart immediately, dazzling notions of dried mushrooms, wild truffles, dried game, graphite and cr?me de cassis were so exotic and effusive that I couldn'thelp but return to it several times throughout the evening. A sultry sexpot of concentration in the palate has a bit of a firm edge (a la Barton), but its flavors are so defined and divine that you almost don'tnotice how tannic this wine likely is
