Spicy aromas of framboise and fennel. Very dry, but chewy and tactile; quite closed and unevolved but shows substantial underlying weight. Not especially fruity or pliant today, but offers strong extract and a very long, subtle, vinous finish. A very distinctive Champagne that transcends rose.

An extraordinary debut vintage! The house-style is easily recognized with its fleshy, chocolate-laden Pinot Noir. Also present is a sublime, aristocratic depth that pushes this newcomer right up into the elite series. The wine went into a peculiar, dry, smoky phase for a short period, only to finally find itself at the end of 2003. Then the wine acquired hints of orange, and the nose and palate suddently exhibited that classic, toffee-ish nuttiness and notes of coffee that certain top roses can get. Reminiscent of an '88 Billecart Elisabeth Rose.
A class act. This rosé puts delicacy, flavor, complexity and balance together for a great taste experience. It is dry, firm in texture and full of subtle cherry and spice flavors that linger on the finish. 975 cases made.
