The 1988 is probably a 30-year wine. Extremely hard and backward, but concentrated, long, and full-bodied, it reminded me of the 1975, only less savage. Let's hope the fruit holds up. Last tasted, 5/93.

Consistent notes. Another lovely bottle w/further development; soft tannins but vigorous w/good grip; masculine style typical of 1988 but not as hard; haberdashery & exotic spices components; complex & elegant w/a very long finish; great now but will hold.
