The dark ruby/garnet-colored 1985 Gruaud-Larose has evolved beautifully. It exhibits a lovely, sweet, fragrant bouquet of berry fruit, truffles, earth, and smoky oak. On the palate, the wine is fat, long, forward for Gruaud, medium to full bodied, and deep. This is one of the few Gruauds to drink well from bottle. Last tasted 6/97

Wow, this wine stills stunning! Great ripe fruit, very mature but complex, mineral and exciting bordeaux nose of wine that is approaching his 30th birthday but looking like a 20 year old. In mouth simply exquisite, very balance with smooth tannins and complex favors and very nice finish!
