Very deep ruby indeed with some evolution on the rim. Very winning ripeness on the nose ? thick. round and v slightly formless but a very winning drink. Eases its way into your favour. Dry finish with lots of ripeness on the front palate. Very respectable. Lots of tannin still in evidence.

The 1985 Solaia continues to evolve at a quicker pace than the 1985 Sassicaia. A huge nose of olives, toast, cedar, and cassis offers considerable enjoyment. In the mouth, this dark ruby/purple-colored, opulent wine exhibits a rich, medium to full-bodied, chewy texture, decent acidity, and well-integrated flavors of smoky new oak. The finish is supple and long as the tannins have quickly melted away. Approachable and delicious, this offering should continue to improve for another 7-8 years.
