Bordeaux Book(1998) Author: Robert Parker

The 1983 is the first La Mission-Haut-Brion produced under Jean Delmas and his staff. The wine offers sweet asphalt, smoked meat, and animal scents in its provocative bouquet. It is dark garnet-colored with spicy flavors of earth, truffles, and jammy black currants laced with licorice. This medium-bodied wine has evolved quickly. It is an excellent La Mission. Last tasted, 5/97.
