Lean, austere and a bit chewy, this is an angular wine with spicy black cherry notes hiding beneath layers of mineral and tannin. Finishes with a touch of gaminess.--Haut-Brion vertical.

closed at first, took 20 minutes to open up, but then it was lovely. Decanted to get rid of bits of cork. Continued to develop for an hour. Bright garnet color, somewhat thin, nose was not strong at all. Nuanced and graceful rather than bold. Cedar, leather, some red fruits. This is not a wine that is getting better, so drink it up now.

This bottle more like 2/6/09 bottle. Classic bordeaux, bouquet of earth, minerals. Tasting with well balanced fruit and tannins and long classic bordeaux finish, but not sure there is too much more life in it.

Dark, deep velvety garnet colour. Complex nose; initially shows stony minerality, graphite and a hint of cooked meat. Over time revealed a lovely soft blackcurrant leaf aroma. Silky texture with great acidity; sweet grippy tannins. Intense, powerful flavours; mouthfilling blackcurrant with notes of coffee and tobacco. A beautifully balanced wine. Long, long, long.
