Maturing aromas of toffee, honey and Tokaj like damp earth. Quite concentrated and complex, with mineral and apple flavors approaching full maturity. Rather penetrating acidity gives the wine a firm structural underpinning but clashes with the older flavors. Finishes with a slight phenolic edge. Will this come into better harmony, or is this wine beginning its downward slope?

The aromas are a touch clearer than in the '82. The nose is spicy and flowery with a sweet, honeyed depth. The flavor is creamy, with citrus aromas and a powerful aftertaste of walnuts and melted butter. Lately I've become worried about the development of this wine, as certain bottles are already showing signs of oxidation. Great bottle variation hardly a wine to recommend.
Distinctive and fully mature, layered with honey, almond, toast and fig flavors that are mellow and complex on a creamy texture. Lingering finish, too. Drink now.
