Last Tasted 5/93. This profound Cabernet Sauvignon remains one of the single greatest Cabernets I have tasted. Still young and amazingly fresh and lively, the saturated purple color with garnet hues creeping in is followed by a huge, mind-blowing bouquet of pure black-raspberry and curranty fruit, minerals, licorice, and violets. A wine of legendary proportions, it is fabulously concentrated, rich, and superbly well-balanced. Still possessing copious quantities of tannin, it can be drunk now, but it promises to evolve for at least two more decades. This wine has consistently been one of the greats! Over 90% of the grapes came from Napa's Eisele Vineyard near Calistoga.
