Still nearly opaque at the core turning garnet at the rim with thick very slightly pigmented slow moving legs. Raw wood, smoky plum, and very intensely aged sweet rancio overtones (one would suspect poor storage yet the provenance of the bottle was impeccable). Brooding strength in the mouth with more power than even the '96 and 2000 Latours. Tannins are strong at the end but are beginning to round into form. Excellent length.
