Decanted at 4:45 for sediment, tasted, rebottled and set aside for dinner (approx 4.5 hours, alternating with and without cork at cellar temp). Initial reaction was massive relief. The cork had been forced a quarter inch into the bottle by a curious friend the night before, moving up my schedule for drinking this one. Cork was unsalvageable and had to be forced (though it didn't require much) into the bottle. Deep garnet, no mentionable bricking, modest sediment, fine grained tannins and plum. Saddle leather and smoke. Around 10 (1 hour after pouring) raspberry and leather, asian spice, cedar and cigar box. Really gorgeous color, again no real bricking. Wet earth, strawberry and iron. Eventually rose petals and a deepening raspberry with hints of cocoa and pencil shavings.
