Château Angelus is located just west of the town of St. Emilion and run by cousins Hubert de Boüard de Laforest and Jean-Bernard Grenié. The property was promoted to Prémier Grand Cru Classé status in 1996. Typical blends consist of Merlot and Cabernet Franc which are grown on Angelus's southerly-exposed vineyards. Huge wine, initially very tight, but developed and opened up after 15-20 minutes of decanting. Went from a dark purple to a tinge of brown. Faint hints of plum. Amazing wine that could age at least another 15 years or more.
