The Fonseca Guimaraens Port house has been making wine by the same family since 1822. In that year, the Guimaraens family purchased a majority holding of the Fonseca & Monteiro Company, whose proprietor required the continued use of his name. Black as night with a full and alcoholic nose of cigar ash, candied plums, spices, and some raisins. Thick and rich with palate staining tannin. Tastes more hot than it has in the past. Lasts and lasts with a very attractive burnt marshmallow aftertaste.
