Producer Notes
Marcel Guigal - the so-called "pivot" of the Cote-Rotie appellation - is both an owner and négociant, and vinifies over 40% of all Cote-Rotie. This 'under the radar? vintage of La Turque is still fairly purple at the core but turning some shades of ruby at the rim (youthful, but starting to develop some tertiary nuance). Mature, but gorgeous scents of violet, blackberry sauce, black currant, dried rubbed beef, high toned spices (like paprika and chili powder) emanate from the glass. The palate is purely mouthwatering, w/ savory, resolved tannins that are seamless and as pure as the heavens above. While not immensely powerful, there is still formidable extract surrounding the wine?s subtle complexities, which really stretch out on the spine tingling finish. Welcome to the right place at the right time; do off-vintages even exist for these Guigal wines? Just about as classy as Northern Rhone Syrah comes.
